Kia Tigers Team



The Kia Tigers is a Korean professional baseball team established in 1982. This team is a member of the Korean Baseball Organization. The Korean Baseball Organization known as KBO is the body that governs the professional leagues of this sport in South Korea. This governing body was established in 1981.

The Kia Tigers Baseball Team is known to be the most successful team in Korean baseball. The team won the National Championship and the Korean series. The team is owned by Kia Motors. This team was the third professional baseball that was created in Korea. The team was established in January of 1982 with a total of fourteen players. At first the team was called Haitai Tigers and its was owned by Haitai. In 1998 due to difficulties of the Asian financial crisis, the company Haitai sold the team to Kia. The team was known as Haitai Tigers from 1982 through 2001. By the year 2002 the name of the team was changed.

The team won the KBO Season and the Korean Series of 2009. The home stadium of this team is called Mudeung Baseball Stadium located in the city of Gwangju. The Mudeung Baseball Stadium is one of the oldest stadiums in Korea. This stadium was established in 1961. Horangi is the name of the mascot of the Kia Tigers.
